In November, the Board of Directors approved 76 grants totaling $848,750 focusing primarily on organizations that meet the new Strategic Framework regarding Arts and Culture, which can be found at About Us/Strategic Plan. The key measurements of the 2013-2017 Strategic Framework regarding Arts and Culture are: (1) Increase percentage of schools with meaningful Arts in Education experiences integrated in school curricula and aligned with the common core standards. (2) Increase percentage of arts and culture organizations and artists using effective and innovative strategies for audience development. (3) Establish local public funding streams in the region to support arts and culture organizations and artists.
Out of 30 grants totalling $598,750 for Large Arts & Culture organizations, the Fab Collab Initiative was funded $25,000 for their proactive Social Media project, which is an innovative audience development marketing effort to find and develop younger audiences for the Kansas City Symphony, Ballet, Repertory Theatre and Lyric Opera. The Iniative facilitator is Hallmark Corporate Foundation.
The Latino Writers Collective, KC Fringe Festival, The Kansas Alliance for the Arts in Education, Community Housing of Wyandotte County and the Clay County African American Legacy, Inc. are among the 46 Small Arts Grant Fund grants provided equaling $250,000.
